Grand View is very proud of our recently announced National Blue Ribbon Award. This award was given to 285 public schools and 50 private schools across the nation. This represents less than one half a percent of the almost 200,000 schools in the United States. We all know that we deserve this recognition due to our outstanding staff, students and parents. Grand View’s vision is to create a stimulating, innovative, enjoyable, and supportive environment to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of all children. We have implemented an innovative “Makerspace” program that provides hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build, invent, and learn as they deeply engage in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) principles. Makerspace offers our students opportunities to investigate and tinker in a collaborative environment that encourages open-ended creativity and problem solving. The Gator Maker’s motto is “Believe! If you can imagine it, you can make it.” Grand View Elementary earned national recognition as one of the first-ever U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools. We received this honor in 2012 in recognition of our innovative efforts to reduce our school’s carbon footprint. Grand View “Gators” are committed to protecting our environment and making a difference for our planet! Our school has a tradition of consistent academic growth and continually strives to exceed expectations. Grand View earned the California Distinguished School recognition in 1995, 2010 and 2014. Our challenging Common Core standards based curriculum is the school’s educational foundation. We feel developing good character is equally as important as growing academic success. We have incorporated a “Character Counts” program to teach citizenship, as well as adopting the “Mind Up” program to teach children techniques to manage stress. Grand View is an exemplary school that is able to implement many positive programs due to the enthusiasm and collaborative effort of its staff and community.
